Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is an advisory body of 5 members appointed by the town moderator with the primary purpose of reviewing budget proposals and town meeting articles that affect town finances. It plays an important role at Town Meeting by advising on financial issues and making recommendations for or against warrant articles. While the Finance Committee’s role is basically advisory, it does have statutory authority regarding reserve account transfers (emergency expenditures from the Town’s Reserve Account) and line item transfers (moving funds within a department’s budget from one line item to another).

The Committee meets as needed with the majority of meetings during the Town’s annual budget season (February - April). All meeting are open to the public. Comments and questions are encouraged either in person or by email to financecommittee@warren-ma.gov
