The animal control officer protects both people and animals by enforcing animal-related laws and ordinances.
Their role includes responding to calls about stray, injured, or aggressive animals; investigating cases of animal cruelty or neglect; capturing and transporting animals safely; and educating the public on responsible pet ownership.
They also work closely with shelters, veterinarians, and law enforcement to ensure animal welfare and community safety.
Please direct all urgent animal calls to Central Massachusetts Regional 911 District at 508-866-4033, ext. 0.
For non-urgent matters, you can call the Animal Control officer directly on the Department Phone. Calls will be returned as soon as possible. Emails are encouraged.
